Fresno adventures...

On Sunday we packed up Brandon's stuff and set off on the dreaded adventure of moving Brandon to Fresno. Although we did not want to take this journey our good luck along the way made up for it.... We stopped in Wendover for our first pit stop and Brandon and I were walking to the bathrooms and this scraggly looking woman stopped us and started asking us questions example: Are you two married? Age? What are you doing in Wendover? etc. We kindly answered her questions with a bit of hesitation though and she then started rummaging through her purse... Brandon and I looked at each other both thinking Oh no, what is she going to pull out of there? She pulled out a 100 dollar bill and said that she wanted us to have it! Why? Why would this lady that we don't even know, that looked like she could use a few nice things herself just out of the blue ask us some questions and then give us $100.00? We kindly tried to decline this generous gift and she started going on how it makes her so happy to see a "so in love and so happy young couple such as us" And went on telling us that makes her so much happier then all the money she has (?) And that I look so much like her daughter and that she was glad to be reminder of her by my looking like her. So in the end we took the money, of course we did right? And went on our marry way in shock! Our next stop was a fuel stop in Elko, while gassing up Brandon found a new quarter on the ground, one that we didn't have! Now that is LUCK! One more incident of good luck Sunday was when we stopped in Lovelock because we were dying with BOREDOM and craving jerky, so we went to the Chevron and I got some money from Brandon and went in to get one of those big paper like pieces of Jerky, I debated on how many to get being as they were $2.89 each, so I decided to just get two different ones and Brandon and I would share them... I got up to the register and the guy says "How u doin?" he rang me up and said, $2.00. I thought they we $2.89 each? Well he said... "Not today" YES!!! More good luck.... I should have bought more at that price! So anyway it turned out to be a pretty great day, although the drive was sooooo long and sooooo boring!

Today we explored Fresno, did some shopping and looked for some places for Brandon to live. We found out that my mom has a cousin in Clovis, which is only 15 mins from the Fresno airport and so we called her up and she was so very kind to give Brandon a place to rest his little head for the time being. It was a crazy thing though because we called her early this morning and could not get a hold of her all day so we were looking at other options just in case ya know and we could not find anything! The rooms available in our price range were TERRIABLE! One for example was like some funky dorm style thing with several sets of bunkbeds and a kitchen and a bathroom that several pilots rent out of and you don't even get your own bed! If your lucky to get a bed the night you are in town you have to have your own sheets with you and put them on and take them off when you leave the next day because another pilot might need to sleep there the next night! And you have to pay for that garbage! It was dirty and nasty... my hunny was NOT going to stay in that dump! I was certain that we could find something.... Well it came time for my flight to leave and we hadn't found anything, we hadn't heard from my mom's cousin yet and I did not want to leave without figuring things out for Brandon. He sent me home anyways assuring me that he would be fine, he's a big boy and he could always just stay in a hotel tonight and look again tomorrow! I did not appreciate leaving and not knowing what my hunny was going to do. Luckily mom's cousin called shortly after I boarded my flight back to SLC. Everything did work out in the end and she has been so kind to Brandon making him feel very welcome and at home. (I'm so greatful for that because neither us of has ever met her before) And I am home with my babies and we'll see Brandon again on Thrusday!

Oh, I did take my camera... but took no pictures! Lame huh....

Oh you poor girl! How long is this going to last??? OY!

I'm glad Brandon got things squared away. Family is a good thing isn't it? Even if you've not met them....just the tie of being family....you have connections.

What fun all of the good luck you had on the way. Mmmmm, I love jerky too.

Hi Julie, how was your trip? Jessica said that you had bought a side by side stroller for like $40.00 where did you find that at? I've been looking for one for a long time to take to Tonga and I can't find one for under $150.00-$200.00. You'll have to let me know cause I want to buy one!! Talk to you later!! Jamie

Jamie,

I got the double side by side stroller at babies r us and it was on sale for 49.98. Normally 70 or 79.00 I think? I already have a nice double stroller that Brandon's dad got for us when I had Kaylie but I didn't want it trashed on the plane (you know how they treat your stuff) So this one is a double umbrella. It's pretty nice, I liked it....
